Postpartum and Newborn Care

Not sure what to expect after baby arrives? You’re not alone.
The first few weeks postpartum can feel hit you like a mack truck causing stress physically, emotionally, and mentally. This course is here to guide you through it all.

We’ll walk you through exactly what to expect during the first month after birth—for both you and your baby. From those early hours in your birthing location to the days and weeks at home, you’ll learn what’s normal, what’s not, and when to reach out for support.

Because you deserve to feel informed, confident, and supported—not overwhelmed.

Course Curriculum

The course starts with what to expect in the first few hours after birth.  This section includes what you can expect immediately at birth for you and your baby, plus how your care looks as it transitions from labor and delivery to postpartum.

This covers what it will look like in both hospital and out-of-hospital births.

Next, we will explore what happens in the first 24 hours after birth in both a hospital and out-of-hospital birth.  This section includes the initial recovery for both a vaginal and cesarean birth.

Bleeding is a common part of the postpartum period–but how much is too much?  What can you expect with your bleeding after birth?  This section of the course answers these questions and walks you through how to manage your bleeding after birth and when to seek help.

The first few days and weeks postpartum can be rough!  This section of the course shares common discomforts that you may feel in these early days along with some common ways to find relief!

This section of the course breaks down how to care for your baby in the first month–diaper changes, caring for the umbilical cord, baths, and more!

This will also cover what to expect in the first month from your baby, what is normal, as well as when to seek help!

In this section, we will break down your options for feeding your baby: breastfeeding (from the breast or exclusively pumping) and formula (or a combo of both).

In this section, we will share ways you can support your baby’s development and enhance bonding.  This section includes information on skin-to-skin, tummy time, and baby wearing.

One of the two bonus sections of this course is an infant and toddler CPR and airway obstruction (choking) class.  This class is taught by an American Heart Association certified instructor to teach you the basics of responding to an emergency with your baby or young child.

Another bonus class is an infant massage class with a licensed massage therapist!  This class covers a few massage techniques that you can do with your baby to enhance their comfort and wellbeing.
