5 Effective Strategies To Grow Your Business With Social Media:
Social media has been a game-changer for our business growth! We have supported so many followers that have never bought a single course or program from us, but supporting them is still worth the effort.
But luckily, we have had a lot of followers who also support our business financially by buying our courses and programs so that we have a sustainable income in online content creation thanks to social media!
Our Top 5 Strategies To Grow Your Business With Social Media:
- Connection
- Stay focused on the content on your feed
- Educational Content: Introduce the Topic and Actionable Tools
- Collaboration with other brands that support a similar demographic
- Authenticity
1) Connection
Social media is about CONNECTION. We get on social media to connect with others virtually; whether it be friends or family, brands, or people you have never met!
But the biggest aspect of social media is the social part! We thrive on connection, so it is important to connect with your followers on a personal level.
You don’t necessarily need to share every intimate detail of your life, but show your face and share some aspects about yourself so your followers realize you are a real person!
Our biggest tip for connection: show your face and share how your expertise helps YOU grow too!
We regularly share our own prenatal and postpartum journeys to connect with our followers, and how we are using our own expertise to support our own journey.
2) But Stay Focused: It's Not Your Personal Page
But, we don’t want our professional social media page to be ALL about our personal lives. While it’s great to share some aspects of your life to connect with your followers, your professional/business page shouldn’t be ALL personal life.
You page needs to be clear to the follower WHAT kind of content they will learn from YOU.
So, connect in your stories on more of the day-to-day, your favorite recipes, your unrelated content, but keep your feed focused on your niche and educational topics.
3) Educational: Keep It Light
Social media is about consuming content that we find entertaining and educational. Social media has become a really great place to be introduced to new concepts and ideas! I have definitely learned a lot of new things from different subject matter experts that have taken the time to share their expertise to the world!
However, social media is QUICK consumption! So, trying to do an in-depth topic is easily lost on the viewer.
Social media is a great place to INTRODUCE a topic or share one or two helpful, and actionable, tips. If you try to get TOO in-depth, folks get lost.
For example, when I want to talk about a topic I feel is really important for someone in the perinatal space to understand, such as releasing tension in the pelvic floor, I need to keep it simple.
If I wanted to share on this topic I would:
- Give 2-3 exercises that release pelvic floor tension with a brief explanation
- Reel should be less than 60 seconds
- Captions if using voiceover
- Limit text on the video
While it is important that someone understands that pelvic position can influence HOW we can release the pelvic floor, and breathing is the mechanism by which we can move our pelvic floor, then also thoracic position plays a large role…. you can see how that is already becoming A LOT.
So, I can use social media to introduce the concept, give a few actionable tools for someone to use NOW, and then direct them towards a blog with videos and more in-depth explanations or a paid course where they can dive deeper into the topic. We can use social media as the intro to a concept, and then offer more in-depth solutions in another platform.
We have found that using our social media to provide bite-size, digestible educational content has been incredibly successful in growing our following!
4) Collaboration
Social media is also about collaboration! We can work with other brands that support similar demographics. You don’t necessarily need to work with brands that compete with your offering, but there are tons of brands that support a similar audience as you!
For example, we love to do collaborations with physical therapists! Pelvic floor physical therapists support a similar demographic as us but offer a different specialty and expertise. So, we can grow together!
Instagram has a great feature where you and do collaborative posts and reels with another page to help each other increase our reach!
We also do collaborations with brands, such as Bao Bei, that support a similar demographic in a very different way! Bao Bei is a clothing company that supports maternity and postpartum, so it works seamlessly with our brand to promote each other.
And it is also okay to support and collaborate with brands that DO support the same demographic in the same way! There are enough clients and customers for us ALL. An abundance mindset is much more beneficial for your growth and for your clients and followers.
5) Stay Authentic!
Stay true to YOU. While we may want to use social media to make money and grow our business, it needs to be more about supporting your community.
If it becomes about the money, it can affect how you connect with your followership. This could mean that you are only promoting brands in sponsorship that you truly love and use yourself.
You are a special and unique person, and you bring a LOT of amazing and useful skills to the table. People want to learn from you, and you will be able to teach them in a way that no one else can. Own that, and believe in yourself!!
Show up as yourself, and be authentic to YOU. This is probably the best advice that we can give to grow on social media: know that you are an amazing person that exists and we are lucky that you are choosing to share yourself with us on this platform.
