Learn how to approach training pre/postnatal fitness clients!

Our Prenatal and Postpartum Fitness Trainers Course will prepare you to train clients throughout pregnancy for comfort and strength, in preparation for birth, and then recover in the postpartum period.  Our course goes beyond exercises to do in each phase of life. We incorporate education on labor and birth so that you can design your prenatal programming to meet the demands of labor while preparing your clients to develop their birth plan.

Our course is unique as we also include birth preparation so that you can support your clients from pregnancy, through their birth, and then into the postpartum period.

Meet Your Coaches

This course was created by sisters Gina and Roxanne, who bring together years of experience caring for women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—both in person and online. Gina, a birth doula and fitness trainer, offers a wealth of knowledge from her work as a non-medical birth professional, focusing on how to trust your body and prepare it for birth. Roxanne, a labor and delivery nurse and student midwife, shares her deep medical expertise from countless births she’s supported in the hospital. Together, their combined backgrounds mean you’re getting a course that’s truly balanced—unbiased, evidence-based, and designed to give you the complete picture of what to expect, so you can feel prepared, supported, and confident as you welcome your baby.

Course Curriculum

The course begins with explaining the WHY behind training throughout pregnancy, so you can educate your clients (and potential clients) on why exercising is important.  This section also breaks down prenatal complications and the safety of exercise.

This section of the course breaks down the anatomy that supports pregnancy–the uterus, pelvis, pelvic floor, and muscles that support the pelvis.  Understanding the anatomy and important structures can educate you on how to tailor your programming to support the prenatal client.

This section of the course is the highlight of our expertise–how does the pelvis move and open for birth.  And how can you design prenatal fitness programs that prepare your clients to open their pelvis for birth.

In this section of the course, we break down what is happening in the body during pregnancy–and how exercise can enhance these physiologic changes.

In this section of the course, we discuss how to positioning impacts our clients in their exercises–and how proper positioning can decrease the risk of injury.

The next important approach to perinatal fitness is pressure management.  Breathing supports our stabilization and overall function–we take 23000+ breaths per day!  This section breaks down how to teach breathing to our clients and how to utilize breath as a birth preparation and recovery tool.

Pain is not a requirement of pregnancy!  In this section, we break down common pre/postnatal complaints and provide solutions on how you can guide your clients to a pain-free experience.

In this section, we break down lifting modifications for pregnancy.  The main lifts include:

  • Squats
  • Deadlifts
  • Hip Thrusts
  • Single Leg Movements
  • Bench Press
  • Rows
  • Pull Ups
  • Overhead Press

In this section, you will learn how to integrate core training for each phase of the perinatal journey.  You will learn how to modify core training and appropriate exercises to maintain core strength during pregnancy and heal postpartum.
