My Top 3 Nursing-Friendly Workout Bras

Welcome to the MamasteFit Blog! I’m Gina—perinatal fitness trainer, mom of four, and a seven-month-postpartum babywearing work-out enthusiast. If you’re juggling a newborn and trying to squeeze in your sweat sessions, you know nursing mid-set is real life. From plenty of experience, I’ve learned that the right sports bra can make or break your workout. Today I’m sharing the three nursing-friendly bras I swear by, when I’m running, jumping, lifting, or simply lounging with my baby.

Why a Nursing-Friendly Sports Bra Matters

When your little one needs a snack—and they need it now—being able to unlatch your bra safely, quickly, and with one hand is a game-changer. Add high-impact moves to the mix and you need stability that won’t leave you bouncing all over the place. After four babies, countless runs, and a whole lot of interruptions, here’s what I’ve discovered:

  • Easy access: One-handed clasps or pull-aside panels are nonnegotiable.

  • Support level: From light yoga flows to full-tilt intervals, make sure the bra matches your workout’s impact.

  • Comfort & breathability: No one needs extra pressure on their rib cage—especially in early postpartum when milk flow is still regulating.

1. Love and Fit Strappy Back 2.0

Impact level: Medium to High
Best for: Running, weight lifting, high-impact workouts

This is my go-to on days where I’m really pushing myself—think running and strength training. The Strappy Back 2.0 has a sturdy, adjustable clasp that you can undo with one hand. Once unclasped, the cup folds down for quick nursing. It also has an adjustable back so you can easily change your band size during postpartum. The stretchy fabric is super comfortable and is super soft to the touch. The strappy back forms nicely to your own back and make this sports bra super comfy!

  • Pros:

    • Rock-solid support for high impact

    • One-handed clasp + smooth fold-down

    • Adjustable back band for a perfect fit

  • Cons:

    • Too structured for lounging all day

    • A bit heavier under the straps

Because of its construction, I save this bra strictly for workouts. It’s not my all-day nursing bra, but when I’m racing a time cap or doing stadium stairs, it’s unbeatable.

2. NOBULL High Neck Sports Bra

Impact level: High
Best for: All-around workouts + long-term wear

Surprisingly, this one isn’t marketed as “nursing,” but it’s a hidden gem. The wide, high-neck design gives me total coverage (no side-spill anxiety), and the fabric panel pulls aside easily so baby can latch. I love pairing it with a roomy NOBULL tank—big armholes make for extra clearance when nursing.

  • Pros:

    • Sleek, minimal design that transitions beyond nursing

    • High-coverage neckline keeps everything in place

    • Pull-aside panel is intuitive

  • Cons:

    • No built-in clasp (you have to pull aside the fabric)

    • Slightly tighter fit—best if you’re past the early days when engorgement peaks

Because it’s not explicitly a nursing bra, I’ll still use it for years to come, unlike some of my more “mom-specific” gear. For longevity, this is the one I’d pick if I could only keep one.

3. LoveSteady Bralette

Impact level: Low–medium
Best for: Yoga, walking, mobility work, lounging

In the first few months postpartum, everything felt so… sensitive. I needed something soft, non-compressive, and forgiving around my rib cage and underarms to prevent clogged ducts. Enter the LoveSteady bralette. It’s a pull-down style with a gentle under-band support that expands as your body does. I even sleep in it.

  • Pros:

    • Totally non-compressive—ideal for early postpartum

    • Pull-down cups give quick access

    • Cozy enough for naps, lounging, and afternoon coffee

    • Great for prenatal and postpartum period
  • Cons:

    • Not for running or jumping

    • Limited shaping/support for larger-busted mamas

I wore this exclusively during my first four months back to movement. It’s my “all-day” bra for gentle Pilates, slow walks pushing the stroller, and when I just need a break from anything tight.

How I Rotate Them

  1. Early Postpartum (0–4 weeks): LoveSteady bralette for everything—even light walks or stroller yoga.

  2. Returning to Impact (4–6 weeks): Begin adding NOBULL High Neck on lower-impact days, when milk supply is more stable.

  3. Full-Throttle Workouts (6+ weeks): Save Love and Fit Strappy Back for my toughest sweat sessions; use NOBULL for everything else that still requires serious support.
